Looking back at the LeukoTreat public conference in Berlin

Written on Wednesday 17 July 2013

Launched in 2010, LeukoTreat – EU-funded collaborative project – is now coming to an end. On this occasion, all partners gathered on July 2nd, 2013, within the context of a public conference.

Organised as a satellite event of the Glia Meeting, this conference – Therapeutic Strategies for Leukodystrophies, Outcomes & Perspectives – allowed partners to present main results obtained during LeukoTreat as well as future perspectives.

Three major topics were tackled:

  • gene and cell therapies,
  • drugs and targets for leukodystrophies, with a specific focus on the identification of new biomarkers, and
  • needs and pitfalls – technical and ethical – related to the creation of a European patients’ database for therapeutic purposes.

This public conference gathered around 50 people.
