  • Fatty acid : A chemical substance formed by a chain of carbon atoms, most of the fatty acids in the body are 16 to 20 atoms long. They are called long-chain fatty acids when they have a length of 14 to 22 carbons atoms and very long-chain fatty acids when they are longer than 22 carbon atoms.
  • Fibroblasts : Cells cultivated from a fragment of skin containing some dermis cells. Fibroblasts produced in this way are a very useful tissue for the study of enzyme deficiency in a patient or to look for possible mutations of a gene.
