Did you know that the traditional Elysée Christmas tree dates from 1889 when Sadi Carnot was President? Since then, no President has departed from the rule. Thus, on Wednesday 18th December, François Hollande, the President of the French Republic, and his partner Valérie Trierweiler, had as guests 600 children in the splendid setting of the Elysée Palace.

Thanks to the support of the First Lady of France, some of the children affected by a leukodystrophy, along with their brother(s) and sister(s), had the honor to be invited to the Elyséen Christmas tree. They were some 15 in all. Ewen, Quentin, Solenne, Tom, Lyna, Morgane and several others attended an unforgettable spectacle where they were able to admire Brahim Zaibat’s breakdancer talent. He was a finalist of the “Dance with the Stars” show. Valérie Trierweiler even tried a few steps with him, while François Hollande posed for the photo with the extremely happy children. M. Pokora the singer and the hip-hop group Pockemon Crew also went down a treat in the Elysée party room. The performances were followed by a distribution of presents and a tea-party especially prepared by the pastry-makers of the venue. Very available, the presidential couple shared this magical moment with the ELA children and participated willingly in the game of autographs. All in all, reason to leave with lovely keepsakes.
